Tiger's Outing on August 4 E-mail

Our annual Detroit Tigers baseball outing is scheduled for the evening of August 4. If you haven't signed up yet, but would like to, please contact Dave Walsh immediately to let him know of your interest. The cost is $30 per ticket, spouses or significant others are welcome. The game is against the Baltimore Orioles, and the first pitch is at 7:05pm. The first 10,000 fans get a free Detroit Tigers 2009 All-Star poster. The Exchange Club bus will depart from the Farmington Hills Government Campus at approximately 5:30pm. The Tigers are currently in first place in the AL Central division, and are holding on to a winning streak of one game in a row. They are expected to still be in the top 5 in their division on August 4, so it should be an exciting game.

Meet Joe Williams E-mail

Meet our newest FFH Exchange Club member, Dr. Joseph Williams. He and his wife Patty live in Farmington Hills. Joe is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and did his residency at Botsford General Hospital. His practice is located in downtown Farmington, the Williams Family & Sports Medical Center. He received the Patients' Choice Award in 2008, based on patient reviews conducted by MDx Medical's physician review services. His patients chose him, and he chose us. What more can we say? Welcome, Joe.

Jon Grant Classic on June 24 E-mail

The Jon Grant Classic Golf Outing is largest fundraiser for the FFH Echange Club each year. It provides the much needed revenues to support the many worthy causes the Exchange Club helps to fund.

Jon Grant, who served on Farmington Hills City Council for 16 years and a one-year term as mayor, died in 2003, from complications of cancer. Originally started by friends, the annual tournament now is run by the Farmington/Farmington Hills Exchange Club, which used to operate a separate tournament. Proceeds from the event benefit various youth programs, particularly the Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families after-school program.

The 5th Annual Jon Grant Signature Classic charity golf event will be held at the Farmington Hills Golf Club on Wednesday, June 24. Preliminaries, including registration, continental breakfast, range practice, and putting contests begin at 9:30 a.m. The real fun (the shotgun start) begins at 11 a.m. The day’s activities will include golf for 130 participants, dinner, a raffle for a weekend trip for two to Mackinac Island, a sports ticket package (including Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings tickets), and more. Opportunities are still available to donate prizes, play golf with us, volunteer or be an event sponsor. Just click the button below for a registration form for the event.

Greg Thompson & Denny Noe - State-of-the-Art Physical Education E-mail

The Exchange Club was pleased to welcome our own Denny Noe and Farmington Public School's Greg Thompson last week as our guest speakers. Greg brought along a slide show which showed some of the latest technology coming into our schools systems to help our children excel in physical fitness. Farmington Public Schools have been one of the leaders in the nation at in bringing these new tools to everyday use. The exercise system includes components which fit on a rack and can be used for hundreds of different exercises. The system even includes the use of an Apple Ipod Touch by the students to record and track routines and progress. The roll out of the system has been so successful, that plans are in the works to have Farmington be the host school district for the 2010 national conference.
